NOTES: The category General contains only documentaries about space and the planets. The Interplanetary catagories from the Sun to Neptune, including Earth orbit, mean that place is the main destination of the main people in the movie. Interstellar means the human beings attain the capability of light speed and use it to travel around the local area of the Milky Way Galaxy. Extragalactic means the action takes place in a totally different part of the universe, somewhere outside our galaxy. Extinction level event means some catastrophe like a cosmic impact is threatening to destroy all of human life. Alien visit means in a way the opposite of Interstellar- in that the aliens come to us on Earth, as opposed to us going to them. Monster / Dinosaur event means that either monsters like Godzilla or dinosaurs like those in Jurassic Park are the main focus of the movie. The Future is the most complex because it could mean either that present day humans travel into the future through time (Back to the Future, Idiocracy) or simply that the events in the movie take place in the future, with no connection to the present day, but with the stipulation that the events take place on Earth and not elsewhere. So, Star Trek, despite showing humans, is 'Interstellar' because the humans have that power, whereas in the category 'Future,' they are confined to Earth. Usually, there is some dystopian situation happening.

Finally, the following movies complete the list, but are not on the main list because either they don't relate directly to space, time travel or a visitation (The Fly, X-Men), or they are simply not on DVD or Video (Out There, Buck Rodgers).
